Kaiapoi Pony Club
Ph 03 327 6845

Situated on South Eyre Road just off the Motorway travelling north of Christchurch, Kaiapoi Pony Club welcomes you to a friendly community of horse-mad enthusiasts!

We are a rapidly growing Pony Club of North Canterbury. Our grounds are spacious and well drained, allowing us freedom to have rally days even when the grass is wet (who needs indoor arenas?!), and very conveniently placed just less than 10 minutes out of Christchurch.

Rally's are held every second and fourth sunday of the month. These Rally's are generally held at our grounds, but we also have Mystery Rally's and Rally's off site to get as much experience and exposure as possible. We welcome new riders, mounted or unmounted, of all ages. We pride ourselves on having a strong contingent of adult riders as well, of all levels, from which we draw knowledge and assistance for all our Pony Club members.

KPC work hard to have fun rally's with different instructors and experts venturing out to our grounds to share their expertise. Recent examples of instructors have included Denis Youngman, Marian Kelly, Tracy Kovacs, and Florence West.  Guest speakers have included Joy White (Specialist Equine Chiropractor) and Claire Murray (Horse Dentist).  More interesting individuals are planned so keep an eye on this website for further details.

KPC's Head Instructor is dressage rider/breeder Michelle Zielazo and the President is the well know Canterbury Equestrian identity Kay Buckley.  The entire KPC family strive to make every rally interesting and different so everyone gets the opportunity to learn new skills and better our riding, knowledge and horsemanship.  Check out the Member Profile for more details of the Committee and our members.

Feel free to browse this website please, if you have any feedback don't hesitate to either email us on or place a comment in the guestbook! We'd love to hear from you!

Our Facilities

At KPC we are very lucky to have a large flat enclosed area on which we hold our rally's. We have a well stocked club room and toilets on site.  Great sheds accomodate all of our new jumps and jump stands as well as other equipment. The grounds have a miniature cross country course set up around the perimeter of the property, which are used to train and have mini "competitions" on.  These cross country fences include a bank with different heights (Intro to Training), a ditch, logs, and many other rustic jumps.

In September of every year, KPC holds the successful Kaiapoi Show and Jumping Day.  Our great facilities mean that we can accommodate the large numbers of horses and riders on the day and allow them to park freely and spaciously.

KPC also conduct the popular annual Kaiapoi One Day Event.  This event is held on a very spacious property 'Ballantynes'.  This property accomodates a fabulous cross country course (ranging from Intro to Training) incorporating fixed jumps and portable jumps allowing freedom to have a variety of different options for the event.  The Cross Country course is ever evolving thanks to the efforts of Chris Buckley, who spends much of his time designing and creating a more challenging and inviting course.
