Jatsar Equestrian stud has been established under guidance from Keith Atkinson & June Marsden of JK Holsteiners who have an insurmountable knowledge in breeding top quality performance horses.

Fleur (left) and Rocher (11 months)
Jatsar Stud is owned and managed by Monique Freese. Monique was initially involved with eventing and showing at pony club level and rode a beautiful gray TB gelding Astrakhan now 25yrs old who she still has at the riding school teaching her students. Monique then moved onto dressage and A&P showing. She purchased Fleur from Annabelle Read at Caithness stud as her sire, Dorchester, had already produced several top show horses. At that time, Annabelle was using selected Dorchester mares with her lovely new Swedish stallion, Maestro, to produce top quality horses so the breeding potential was already tested and proven
Monique chose the Holsteiner breed mainly because of the height as she is fairly tall (at 5’9”) with longer legs (both parents Dutch) and also because of the breed’s wonderful temperament and rideability. Click here to find out more about the Holsteiner Breed.
Now that Monique has secured a beautiful 20 acre property in Taupaki, her dream of breeding top level performance horses can came to fruition*. She has a bright future ahead of her working with her own small band of exceptional Holsteiner and TB broodmares and welcome a limited number of outside mares of good quality. It will be great to see Rocher’s first crop of foals on the ground next year.
Monique initially bred Rocher as her next eventing superstar, destined to be gelded, but he developed into such an amazing young horse with superb features such as confirmation, temperament, movement and of course colour (that’s the showy in Monique coming through!) that the decision was made fairly early on to leave him entire . Keith assessed Rocher in Dec ‘09 and confirmed he should remain entire as a performance and breeding stallion as he was a good example of the Holsteiner breed, which is represented by an even temperament, good height, compact frame with length of leg, room behind the elbow for jumping technique, powerful front and rear and good movement.
The decision was also made because of the untimely death of Ramazotti (pictured left) - Rocher is very similar to his sire in looks.
* Monique has purchased one of the last JK Holsteiner foals bred by Keith and June to also be a performance and breeding stallion to compliment Rocher in the future. His name is JK Latino Danza de Arte - The Art of Latin Dance. He will mainly be for dressage but will also be show jumped.
Caithness Fleur du Marquis (left) 16hh TB has had one foal to date mainly used for showing and now starting a career in showjumping. By Dorchester out of Mousetrap (Destroyer) who has Rocky Mountain immediately behind her - Rocky Mountain is also the Grandsire of Kalista Fields Olympic dressage horse Waikare.

JK Monozara 16.2hh mainly ridden in dressage - had two foals (Lessing and Falkensee)  By JK Mazurati out of JK Seinna (JK Sacramento)Beautiful temperament with amazing elastic movement and very obliging.

Not been ridden in 6yrs and bought back into work. Very forward and energetic with beautiful elevated paces. Won over all in our second event entered with 2nd in dressage and clear show jumping and x-country. Amazing clean powerful jump considering she has never been jumped previously. In foal to Rocher due Jan 2012 - foal for sale (possibly spoken for).

JK Lustre 16.1hh broodmare - had several excellent foals for JK Holsteiner Stud. By JK Lucas out of Fanciful a large black 16.3hh TB mare. Beautiful movement and very giving in nature considering she has not been handled much.

Brooklands Park Luminous (Lana) is a 6yr old 16.1hh Holsteiner mare by Littorio out or JK Mazuran (full sister to JK Mazurati).
She was trained up to level 3 dressage by Carolyn McCree prior to a ligament injury.
Her half sister, As You Do (Arnamor) is competing at Grand Prix level dressage and a half brother, Campione GNZ (Corland) is competing at Grand Prix level show jumping.
She has had one foal to date.

I am currently riding this beautiful mare and will compete her until she is put back in foal. She is a dream and remembers everything she was taught as a 4yr old. She has an impeccable attitude to work and a steady temperament. I would not hesitate putting one of my beginner riding students on her. She will be put in foal this season to Rocher or Chairman.

Weave (Coco) is a 14 yr old 16.1hh TB mare by Westminster out of an Imperial Seal mare (well known bloodlines for top NZ eventors).
She did well racing prior to retiring as a general riding horse.
She will be producing our stud's show jumpers and eventers.
Coco has had two foals to date.

Beautiful soft willing temperament with a bit of spice. In foal to Rocher due Jan 2012 - foal for sale.

JE Vendetta (Vinnie) is a 7yr old 16.3hh Dutch Warmblood KWPN by Voltaire II out of Savara XX.

She has been ridden and trained by Janelle Sangster-Ward at SW Equestrian who commented she is very willing, easy and tries everything that is asked of her.

JE Vendetta is a full blood sister to NZ top eventer Clarke Johnston's latest ride Viper SL.

She will be put in foal to Goshka Ringo this coming season.
